It is with confidence I report that the native species here are generally of a friendlier nature. Their food is tolerable and they are easily persuaded to provide it to strangers.

They seem armed with rudimentary weapons. Theoretically any one of us could launch a successful attack and come away with minimal casualties.

If the need should arise, of course.

Maybe if he tries it differently now, lets him in just a little further...there will be less and less to ask in the future. This won't have to keep coming up.

I think the problem is that I've never been one in my nature to want a do-over on my past. Dwelling on mistakes too hard never solves anything; just makes you weaker and weaker as you lean on that regret like a crutch.

My son exists. For better or worse...I would not want to unmake him.

First day out of the infirmary, a new warden got in my face. Then just as we were starting to go at it, another inmate stepped in. Between the two of them, I wound up with the broken knuckles.

It's on my dominant side, too. What a pain.

Much as it's tempting to paint myself the victim, "threatened" would be a stretch. More that I was having a bad mood spell and clearly wanted to be left alone -- said new warden instead thought it was a good time to have a go at me. He was looking for a fight. And he got it.

I don't know entirely know about 'fortunate'. But, there was a witness. And I know my warden knows about it now, at least. My best guess is making me come out on this little expedition is my punishment.

I take no pleasure from this type of environment, and, not to overstate a point. But I haven't exactly been feeling very social lately.
