Considering he was a somewhat duplicitous type himself, it's not really a surprise he couldn't trust you. Of course, I think he may have mastered that skill of being technically honest without giving everything away.

I don't know that I...think so highly of Crichton, as do you. But then, you've known him far longer than I. Might be something important that I'm missing.

I don't blame him, of course. My shortsightedness is what ultimately brought it about. But he is a...dangerous instrument.

I normally succeed at most things I set my will and determination towards. But I've had a few setbacks of late. Normally I would say my self-confidence is unshakable, but...

Because I am as far from perfect a being as you are most likely to get. I have known hatred and scorn since I was an infant because of my imperfections. Perhaps it is vanity, but I wish to understand how I am lacking.

[Good thing this is voice because the look Blight is giving on his end is...dubious, to say the least. He has a very strong feeling that this might have something to do with that whole 'mixed breed' thing.

I'm sure I hardly need to tell you that listening too much to what other people think is a good way to undermine your own self confidence. And that it'll rarely provide the most concrete of answers.
