Two of John's favorite things, I always assumed. I suppose, having not made contact with any extraterrestrial life, humans need to develop their own exclusive language patterns with impunity.

Probably a bit of both. He's been there as long as I can remember. I imagine he's seen just about everything by this point.

'Everything' is likely to be a gross overestimation. I have seen many things, but in these far corners of the galaxy who's to say what we'll stumble upon next?

I dunno, I think there comes a point where 'everything' is a pretty valid extrapolation of the things you've already seen.

From the dead? Not as far as I'm able to tell, but I suppose it depends on the species and resources available to it.
