Still, I wished my death had come at a time after my project was moved to completion. Timing is such a curious thing.

Many reasons. I'm afraid I have a completely deserved reputation as an unforgiving, merciless commander of a paramilitary organization that frequently polices other species at a high cost. You can imagine the death threats.

And yet it was my newest enemy, currently here on the Barge as a warden, who dealt the largest hand in my death. Surprising; I didn't think he had the means. But it is my fault for underestimating him.

I assigned him to me some time ago. We don't need to be officially paired for me to keep him near.

Has anyone told you how this place works?

You'll get a warden who will follow you around telling you how to behave. What you did wrong. How much better they could have lived your life, in your place.

I'd be interested to hear their opinion, even if it did come with the benefit of not having lived my life. It's deceptively easy to point the mistakes from a distance without having lived in the moment.

Still. I come here with relatively few regrets, I'm sure, compared to some.
