[Not even a day out of surgery yet, and Scorpius was discovering to his displeasure that his prolonged nightmare was only growing worse. Having spent the night before in the infirmary, he had debated the likelihood of his surviving the upcoming port. Considering that even walking was difficult without soreness or residual pain, he wasn't feeling entirely optimistic when the crash-landing settled down.
Darkness, then. Darkness, on an unfamiliar planet with, it sounded, next to no one around.
But he does have a silver lining. His pack is still with him - though he may have to do without the implied climbing - and his mind is functional and his trace racial abilities remain intact. Being able to see another creature's energy signature doesn't only help with lie detection: Scorpius finds, to mild relief, that he can effectively use his innate ability as a crude thermal scanner...at least where it concerns living people.
Speaking of, there seemed to be two others located relatively close by. He doesn't yet go to them, not particularly wishing to exert himself. Their paths will intersect with his in short order so there's really no sense in chasing after them.
Now all he need do is wait and hope that whoever was coming didn't have a thing for pointless murder.]
