[Some time after Gard's unconscious, coma'd body is discovered and moved, Scorpius plants himself on the edge of the man's bed, casually running through his datapad to pass the time. There's no obvious reason to outsiders why he feels the need to watch over his warden in typical creeper fashion, but he does, and presumably will make difficult the lives of anyone attempting to get near to either without a solid reason]

In some ways, I feel as though a comatose warden is simply not holding up their end of the bargain. The game feels less interesting when one of the players is absent.

I wonder if Hiziki Gard thought to leave anyone in charge of my supervision in the event of his...disposal.

I was referring to the fact that you expect hostility from everyone you encounter, and thus demonstrate a tendency to challenge others at every possible juncture.

[He can't fault them for that; from what Crichton, Aeryn, and Scorpius have told him, there's not much place for diplomacy in their world.]

It is understandable, but I maintain it is not always necessary.

I disagree. Consider that Aeryn and I are both inmates, and you speak only from a warden's point of view. Constantly she and I are reminded that we were forcibly removed from our home universe and placed here. We expect similar treatment at every turn, and are thus well prepared when things go poorly for us.

And while you may argue that hostility breeds hostility, it has always been my experience that it is better to be hated than dead.
